The 1996 special event had been conducted with only two functioning tubes, one as the oscillator and one as a power amplifier, the other type 204-A tubes shown in the 1996 photo at the top of this page had their filaments lit, but were otherwise not functional.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" width=\"512\" height=\"683\" src=\"http:\/\/1bcg.org\/1BCG\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/Ed-with-204-A.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-133\" srcset=\"http:\/\/1bcg.org\/1BCG\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/Ed-with-204-A.jpg 512w, http:\/\/1bcg.org\/1BCG\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/Ed-with-204-A-225x300.jpg 225w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 512px) 100vw, 512px\" \/><figcaption>Ed Gable, K2MP, examines a 204-A<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>The first order of business was to build a filament power supply, borrow a plate supply, and identify some working 204-A tubes.
